Terms of service
Last updated: June 29, 2026. These Terms apply to UPC Retriever at upcretriever.com and portal.upcretriever.com.
By creating an account, subscribing, or connecting a point of sale platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The service
UPC Retriever enriches product data in your inventory and point of sale on Clover and Linga. An active subscription and a connected store are required to use enrichment, Review, and Scanner.
When you connect a store, we examine your existing catalog and attempt to fill in missing names, descriptions, and barcodes where we find a reliable match. When you add new items in your point of sale, we enrich them when they appear in your catalog using the same matching rules.
Matching. Barcode or UPC matches are applied automatically. Name-only items with a single clear match may also be updated automatically. When a name-only item matches several products, we queue it in Review in your account instead of guessing. You may confirm a match to apply it or skip to leave the item unchanged.
Scanner. From your account, you may look up products by barcode, UPC, or product name and add enriched items to your connected point of sale. When a lookup returns several possible products, you choose the correct one before adding.
Enrichment runs in the background. Items that are already complete, items we cannot match, or items you skip in Review are left unchanged.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to bind the business whose point of sale you connect. You may link each Clover merchant or Linga store to only one UPC Retriever account at a time, as described in the product.
3. Subscription and billing
UPC Retriever is offered as a monthly subscription at the price shown when you subscribe (currently $5.99 per month unless we notify you of a change).
- An active subscription is required to connect Clover or Linga, run enrichment, use Review, and use Scanner.
- Payment is processed by our payment partner (iPOSPays). Your full card number is handled by that partner; we store only a secure token for renewals.
- Your subscription renews each billing period until you cancel.
- You may cancel at any time from your account. After you cancel, access continues through the end of the billing period you already paid for.
- We may change pricing or plan features with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.
4. Point of sale connections
Connecting Clover or Linga requires you to authorize UPC Retriever to access your store through that platform’s APIs or OAuth flow. You represent that you have permission to connect each store and to allow us to read and update catalog items for enrichment and Scanner.
You may disconnect a store at any time from your account. Disconnecting Clover or uninstalling our Clover app stops further enrichment for that store and triggers revert as described in section 5.
Clover and Linga are third-party services. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of those platforms. We are not responsible for outages, API changes, or actions taken by Clover or Linga.
5. Backups, changes, and revert
Before we change an item in your point of sale through enrichment or Scanner, we save a backup copy of how that item looked (or that it did not exist). We use that backup only to restore your original data when enrichment is undone.
- Disconnect or uninstall: When you disconnect Clover or Linga from your account, or uninstall our Clover app, we attempt to restore enriched items to their pre-enrichment data promptly, then remove our connection data for that store.
- Cancel subscription: When your subscription ends after a cancellation, we attempt the same restore for connected stores. Revert runs when the billing period ends, not when you click cancel.
- Limitations: Revert depends on point of sale availability and the backup we saved. If an item cannot be restored automatically, contact us and we will try to help. We do not guarantee that every field on every item will revert in every situation.
6. Product data and accuracy
We match your items to product information from third-party data providers (such as Barcode Lookup) using barcodes, UPCs, product names, and similar signals.
Automatic updates apply when we find a reliable barcode or UPC match, or a single unambiguous name match. When several products match the same item name, we queue the item in Review until you pick a product or skip. When Scanner returns several lookup results, you choose the product before it is added to your point of sale.
You are responsible for reviewing enriched data in your point of sale and for confirming matches in Review before relying on catalog data for pricing, labeling, compliance, or customer-facing use. We do not guarantee that every match is correct, complete, or suitable for your jurisdiction or product category.
If you believe an item was enriched incorrectly, disconnect and revert, skip or correct ambiguous matches in Review, or contact us. Do not use UPC Retriever for regulated products or uses where incorrect catalog data could cause harm unless you independently verify results.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service, including by:
- Connecting stores you do not have permission to manage
- Attempting to bypass security, rate limits, or subscription requirements
- Reverse engineering or reselling the service without our consent
- Using the service in violation of applicable law or third-party platform rules
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules or that pose risk to the service or other users.
8. Availability and changes
We strive to keep UPC Retriever available and accurate, but the service is provided on an as-available basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice when practical.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted by email or in your account. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UPC Retriever and its operators provide the service “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the service or enriched catalog data.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the subscription in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and UPC Retriever regarding the service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
